Your host’s Bob and Mary Redpath will make every endeavour to ensure your time spent on our farm is a memorable & enjoyable experience. Wairata Station is a vast peaceful mountainous wilderness within reach of New Zealand’s main centre, Auckland. Wairata Station is a large hill country farm ranging from lush river flats up to towering open peaks. The station runs over 400 head of Angus cattle and 1500 Perendale sheep.

The Common Brushtail Possum was introduced to New Zealand by European settlers in an attempt to establish a fur industry. Originating from Australia the possum quickly thrived in New Zealand’s environment, mainly due to a lack of predators. Now a major pest on New Zealand, the possum population in New Zealand outweighs people more than 10 to 1. They are found in the trees not far from the house.
